The Castroville Community Services District was formed in 2008. The District was created
by the Monterey County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) with the merger of both the Castroville Water
District, which was established in 1952 and Monterey County
Service Area No.14, the successor to the
Castroville Sanitation District. The Castroville
Community Services District is a public agency governed by a five (5)
member elected Board of Directors.
The District provides specified services to locally defined areas. The Castroville Community Services District is a Special District, an agency of the state for the local performance of governmental or proprietary functions within limited boundaries. The Castroville Community Service District is a Multi-function district. A multi-functional CSD can only provide the services it is authorized to provide by law or LAFCO.
Services provided include water, sewer, storm water, street lighting, recreational services, graffiti abatement, street maintenance and open space. All services listed except for street maintenance and open space are provided to the township of Castroville. All services listed except for water service are provided to the Moro Cojo subdivision.
